Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, as well as Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. This has just been confirmed by the official PlayStation account, although we still don’t have a release date.
It’s also not clear if Silksong will see a simultaneous release on all platforms, or if another platform, such as Xbox and PC, is being prioritized. It’s already been confirmed that Silksong will be on Xbox Game Pass from day one, but it’s not clear if this is part of a temporary exclusivity deal.
This comes after the last few game showcases didn’t give us the long-awaited Silksong release date we’ve been hoping for. Curiously, Sony even omitted this Silksong update from its recent State of Play broadcast, although this was admittedly on the shorter side, and focussed on games more in-depth than simple updates.
The Nintendo Direct didn’t give us any updates on the game either, much to everyone’s dismay. Understandably, seeing Hollow Knight pop up in a tweet from the official PlayStation account quickly got everyone’s hopes up for some big news – only to have those feelings crushed as they read the tweet. Sorry guys, better luck next time.
In better news, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer for the release date. In June, Xbox suggested that it would be with us within the next 12 months, so summer 2023 at the latest. Xbox is perhaps the most likely of the major publishers to know, as it has secured a day one Game Pass release for Silksong. In any case, it looks like we can rule out the leak that suggested it would be a 2022 release.
Whenever it launches, will now know that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
