Overwatch 2 Xbox Game Pass – What We Know About It

Overwatch 2 brings a long-awaited refresh to Blizzard’s acclaimed hero shooter and, as it expands beyond just PvP with the addition of a PvE mode, you might be asking yourself whether or not the title might make it to Xbox Game Pass or its PC counterpart in 2022.

PC Game Pass’ extensive library offers plenty of games to play without going for a traditional purchase. As Overwatch 2 is multiplayer-focused, lowering the barrier to entry would also translate to a larger playerbase.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Overwatch 2 is arriving on Xbox Game Pass or its PC counterpart when it launches into early access, on October 4, 2022.

The first-person shooter’s shift to a free-to-play model might likely have influenced the decision to keep it off Microsoft’s subscription service for the time being.

This aligns with Blizzard’s other games, which are also not a part of the service’s sizeable library at the moment. This may, however, change in the future.

Microsoft’s announcement that it would acquire Activision Blizzard shook the industry. Should it go through – in-depth probes have been launched by both the UK and EU –, more of the publisher’s games will likely make it onto PC Game Pass and its Xbox counterpart.

As far as the free-to-play angle is concerned, League of Legends is on its way to the subscription service. Game Pass subscribers get instant access to all of its champions, so there certainly are ways to make similar titles work in this context.

Whether or not Overwatch 2 will eventually make its way to Xbox and PC Game Pass later down the line, remains to be seen. We’ll update this article as soon as we learn more.

In the meantime, here’s what we know about whether or not crossplay is available at launch.
